The Terminal is the only place on a computer where a program can read and write your files, run other programs, open a browser and talk to your calendar without a user interface standing in the way. Claude Code lives there for that reason. You type sentences. It does the typing of commands. You need about six commands yourself, and they are on page one of the guide.
What changes: four PDFs you were avoiding become five bullets each and a note on where they disagree. A messy Downloads folder gets sorted while you make coffee. The reply you have been putting off is drafted in your voice from a page you wrote once. And the thing you check every morning becomes a one-word command, then a routine that emails you at seven.
You need a Mac and a Claude subscription (Pro works, Max is better). You do not need to have written a line of code. The guide assumes you are smart and new to this, which is most people.
